Dr. Amy Funk Wolkin is an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since joining the CDC in 2002, Amy has led numerous outbreak investigations and emergency responses.  Amy has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on disaster epidemiology, environmental epidemiology, and surveillance. She received her Doctorate of Public Health from University of North Carolina, her Masters of Science in Public Health from Emory University, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.  


Dr. Wolkin  and her husband, Brent have two sons at AJA, Ethan and Shai. She has been actively involved in the school since her children joined in 2011. Dr. Wolkin has had held various positions on the PTSA, has been a room parent, has guest taught several science classes for the middle and lower school, served as a Science Fair judge and is currently a school ambassador.
